Nomophobia Research
Nomophobia (No Mobile Phone Phobia) is considered a modern-age phobia introduced to our lives as a byproduct of the interaction between people and smartphones. The term is used to describe the fear and anxiety resulting from being detached from mobile phone connectivity.
The Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) is a commonly used method for assessing symptoms related to nomophobia and was co-developed by Dr. Ana-Paula Correia and her former graduate student, Yildirim. This research about nomophobia (fear of being away from one’s smartphone) received major attention nationally and internationally. So far, the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) has been translated into Portuguese, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Arabic, and Indonesian.
